As I had my stamps out from my last class, I sorted out some scraps I had left over from something else to make a few more cards.

First one is another 8x8 card and uses the same stamps as the last post, together with the Spellbinders Blossom die and leaves. You can see more of the Intrinsic embossing folder in this card. The stamps for the border are part of the set and the border has been cut with the Edgeabilities die again. I finshed it off with some seam binding and I tried a sprinkling of accent beads in the flower centres. Papers I think are very old Scenic Route.

the second one is a smaller 6x6 square card and I cut out some of the flowers to make a border down the side. This time I embossed directly onto the cardstock and then sanded back the embossing lightly. I added some liquid pearls to the flower centres.

Its a Grand Affair class

Yesterday I had a class at the shop using 8x8 cards, very on trend on the moment and a great size for a special occassion. I used some of the new Justrite stamps on my cards, they are an american stamp company that are now working in partnership with Spellbinders to design stamps that fit the nestabilitie dies. This first card uses Labels 4, you get alot of stamps on the carrier sheet, which is laminated and hole punched down the side so you can store them in ring binders. To keep with the Paris theme I chose a selection of cardstock from the My Minds Eye Lost and Found 2 range. The girls got 3 sheets of 12x12 cardstock to make both cards. This card could easily be a valentines, anniversary, engagement card. I cut the Labels 4 out of the pink checked cardstock and used the negative piece as a frame. I stamps the flourish stamp above and below and added a few small pearls. That was attached with foam pads to a mat on some burgundy cardstock. The Paris stamp was inked and die cut on Kraft cardstock and then dropped it into the recess....use wet glue it gives you some time to line up. You get a great border stamp in the set and some fab postcard, stamps and franked stamps, so this set is a great one for all occassions or mixed media work. I should also mention the stamps are red rubber on foam, so if you prefer the rubber to clear resin stamps but still need the storage to be minimal these are a great company to look out for.

The second cards uses the same cardstock and the Fancy labels stamp set which cordinates with Nestabilties labels 13 and 18. Lots of Spellbinders used on this one and the sentiment comes in the set or some of the girls used the "Mum" stamp from the Docrafts 3 for 2 promotion instead to make a beautful Mothers day card. The embossing folder is the new Intrinsic from the Couture collection, embosses beautfully and one I will be using often.

Todays card uses a Humphreys corner stamp from Crafters Companion. I used the image ages ago in a Promarkers class and never go around to actually making it into a card. I cut the circle with my Ek Success circle cutter.

George with kite

Few more cards left from demo day, todays features a Molly Bloom stamp George with kite. I have used my Cricut with the George cartridge to make the star shape and the papers are from Authentique. The sentiment comes from one of the 3 for 2 stamps in the Docrafts promo. I stamped the “for you” onto some of the cream scraps I had left from the range of cardstock I was using and then cut out the two words. I used scissors for most of it and finished off with a craft knife. The bookplate at the bottom was cut in another colour so the “you” stood out more. The cord is from the shop as well and comes in a great range of colours

You might need your sunglasses for this one...lol, todays card is a big 8x8 card I made to show the promarkers using one of the large single flower stamps from Woodware. Apologies I have thrown the piece of paper with the colours I used. Love those corner dies on Coredination cardstock!

Shaped easel card

A very simple card today, using Promarkers again and the papers and die cuts from the Pink Capsule collection in the latest promotion. They have brought out shaped die cuts, I used one to form the bottom of the easel card by just drawing around the outline with a pencil and cutting out and then repeating for the top panel. In each pack you get different designs of die cuts, 3 of each and 1 is glittered. The flowers are from the Gerbera X-cut dies, great selection of sizes and circles to make centres.

Todays card is another sample from last Saturday. I made a side stepper card and used some of the lovely My Minds Eye cardstock we have in the shop. The stamp is a gorgeous lily, which I demonstrated how to colour with Promarkers. The borders are another Edgeabilities, the bottom one threaded with ribbon and the book plate is again from the Xcut dies from this current promotion. The pearls were cream but I coloured them to match the papers.

Moments of Faith

Another sample card I did for the demo day. Something very different but proving to be popular in the new Docrafts promo…the moments of faith collection. I wanted to keep this card soft and subtle and with the Lily's there is not alot of colouring needed. I coloured the cross with a Flexi marker and used one of the fine nibs for the details in the flowers. The patterned paper is from the Hog Diggity Dog collection, which is beautiful! I teamed it up with some Bazzill and borrowed a friends Edgeabilities die from Spellbinders for the border { thanks Jo!!} I wanted to mat and layer the image but as I had to use the largest one in the pack I have coloured in the embossed edge with a promarker to make a border. A few pearls and some ribbon finish the card off. The sentiment comes in the stamp set.

The card is a form of stepper card I saw in the new Magnolias magazine, I just had to adapt it slightly. The die cut panel is one of four you get in the pack and the bookplate is from the new Xcut dies, great because they emboss and cut the holes in it so I can thread ribbon through the back or add brads or eyelets.

Kanban Shaped Card

Sorry I have not had much to show recently, but I am busy preparing cards for the shop. I did take some time out though to make a card for my Mum whose birthday it is tomorrow. I have just brought some of the Kanban shaped cards which I love and thought I would do one of the larger ones.
The patterned cardstock is an old Stampin’Up one I had sent to me years ago and never use as I love it so but enough of stroking paper…its got to be used..lol!! The flourish design has been cut on my Cricut using the Mothers Day cartridge. It was cut at 5” and then again as a shadow and I cut it into two down the middle. The flowers in the middle are embossed with White powder on Baja Breeze cardstock.

Christmas card for someone special

I have been trying to use old Christmas papers up and restrain from buying too many new ones this year. This card uses some very old SEI papers which I love and will be sorry to see go, when its all used up. I think its because its a very different colour combo than the traditional one, some of the papers are pearly and some glittered. As 8x8 cards are in vogue at the moment I thought I would use these papers to create a card for my mum and dad. Some ribbon I brought whilst on holiday in Scotland adds an extra embellishement and as I had the whole collection of this range { well you do dont you ;) I had a sheet of tags, which I used to stamp the sentiment on. The branch die is from Marianne and I have used it alot this year. The baubles/border are stamps "borrowed" from a friend and stamped onto odd scraps to co-ordinate. The corners have been done with an old Stampin'Up punch.

Another quick and easy card

I have used the same colour combo on this card as my last post, the labels stamp is from Waltzingmouse and match the nesties. I simply stamped the tree onto some cream card, cut it out with the nestie. Stamped the nestie label onto grey card and cut out the middle and mounted with foam pads. The border punch is cut in Bling cardstock and I added a few pearls to embellish.

I had then had a go at making another one after seeing so many purple and bright green decorations this year.

As I did not have any bright green pearls, I coloured them with promarkers. The tree was stamped and then embossed with silver glitter embossing powder.

Colour inspiration

I so hope your Christmas preparations are going better than mine!! I did manage to grab some time this week to make so much needed cards but as my mojo has packed up and gone on holiday already I needed a colour combo to get me started. I love walking around the garden centres looking at all the decorations and it was my plan to have a different colour theme in my own decorations this year, thinking that we would have moved by now! As thats not happened I have used my past decorations but I did see a lovely grey, peach and pearly decorated tree and I wanted to try it as a colour combo on a card. This is what I came up with and I combined it with one of my new Memory box dies that have not seen the light of day yet!

I sprayed the cut tree with a glue and sprinkled glitter all over it, I had hoped to use double sided sticky paper but the dies too intricate. I went around the edge with a metallic Silver pen.

Today I must tidy the house looks like a bombs hit and with people coming to view the house tomorrow,they are not going to be impressed. It does feel Christmasy though as its snowing outside!

This week I had an evening class at the shop doing quick and easy cards. These are great for mass production, although its lovely spending ages on special cards,with so much to do around this time of year these style of cards would be ideal for friends, nieghbours and work colleges.

First up, a card using my new Tim Holtz edger snowflake die

Next card uses the negative piece from a Spellbinders die, the glitter border are done with double sided tape. Just attach tape where you want the glitter, peel off the top, sprinkle with glitter and press down with your finger and shake of excess....great trick!

The last cards uses a fab new stamp from Kirsty Wiseman, I have stamped the tree on the actual card and covered the front with Vellum. Its attached to the card with double sided tape and then I sprinkled glitter over it to cover the tape. A few gems and a dot of a quickie glue underneath the vellum, behind the gems, keeps the vellum attached to the card.

I have hardly done any crafting these past few weeks as I have been looking after my mum, who has just come out of hospital, so apologies for my lack of posts. I did have to get myself back on track though, as I have some classes coming up and today I had two. This afternoons classes I will post another day but here are the cards we made this morning.

The theme was traditional cards in green and reds. The same patterened cardstock was used on all 3 Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium. First card uses the Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia set, die cut on Coredinations cardstock.

Second card uses the Marianne Lampost die and some intricate cutting out of Holly sprays.

Lastly, a small card using some left overs and a sentiment stamp from Tatty Buttons Text 1 stamp set and the new Tim Holtz Festive Greenery Sizzlet die. The die cut is Nesties Labels 1

Lili of the Valley Christmas card

Somewhere in all the tidying up I have done recently I have misplaced my mojo...too much else going on with family and trying to sell our house probably has not helped!! Yesterday though I had my monthly crops so I had to knuckle down and do something, so to make things easy for myself I made some cards using Lili of the Valley die cuts that I brought at Ally Pally.

I'm dreaming of a white christmas...

.......but not just yet I can hear you scream. The weather has been lovely again, so sunny , I have been working in the garden and the sun is burning my back and arms!! Anyway back to Christmas....yes I know.. but its going to be here in a blink of an eye..lol!! The name is the theme for my class last night at In2crafting...all 3 cards snow related. First up a card made with a set of stamps from Andy Skinner....if you like Tim Holtz style you will love Andys stamps. I have seen him a few times at the shows and he is always surrounded my loads of people. I kept the card monochromatic, because I always worry about time, but if you were at the shop at the weekend and saw Lindsay Mason demoing...she used the same stamp set and added colour...stunning!! I took photos last night and pics and ink colours are at the bottom of this post. I added some flowersoft to my card for texture and dimension and then sprinkled some glitter on top.

Now my favourite spellbinders snowflake set, create a flake 1 you cant buy anymore so Rene had this Ironworks set and the biggest die is ideal for snowflakes!! The others are made up with punches and Marianne dies. Different textures in this set...fab crushed velvet cardstock and glitter paper. The snowflake centres are from the Ironworks set as well.

As promised here are Lindsay's idea's, she made a mask for the house and the skyline all in one piece and the Distress ink used were Mustard Seed and Dried Marigold for the sun and Chipped Sapphire and Faded Jeans for the sky. The orange inks were worked outwards from the house and the blue inwards so the blend well. The snow effect is water from a spritzer bottle which reacts with Distress inks. The trees have been stamped in one of the greens and then liquid pearls added. Use a wet paint brush to pick up colour and add detail like around the fence posts. They are very atmospheric ...ideal for mans cards and anybody who is not into traditional or cute Christmas cards.

Lili of the Valley Christmas Bears

I have been hitting my scraps box again to see what I can make, this card uses some Christmas die cuts from Lili of the Valley I brought a year or so ago and never got around to using.....surprse surprise!! If you are not into the colouring of Lili of the Valley stamps then these are a great alternative and you can get them done alot quicker. I made a twisted easel card and for some reason the glitter is not showing in these photos, but I used glitter card for some of the snowflakes and dabbed some Stickles for the snow at the end.

Lil of the Valley tent card

Had a lovely day yesterday at the monthly crop I hold locally. Did not get much done but I did manage to colour a image and make it into a card. I got a fab little 6x6 paper pad from My Minds Eye free in a craft mag this month so I used the colours from that to colour in my image and then I made a tent card using a prescored cardstock from Kanban.

Introducing Island Indigo

Todays the last colour I am showing you from the new In Colours family. Island Indigo is a lovely turquoise and I am sure will be popular. I have teamed it up with More than mustard and Lucky Limeade to create an autumn card. Walking Molly over the park and you can see the trees beginning to change colour. Chart first so you can compare

I used a mix of stamp sets for this one. Autumn Splendor for the leaves and I stamped each one in the three colours and cut out. The splat, post mark and text are from French Foliage. Punches are scalloped border, Modern Label and word window. I made the background using the Texture wheel. The sentiment came from Trendy Trees stamp set and the dotty paper is More than Mustard from the paper stack. I finished it off with some twine and a brad.

Introducing Lucky Limeade

Today I am showing you Lucky Limeade, as you can see from the chart its not a bright lime, much more subtle and a bit brighter than old olive. You have to excuse my chart as well....I dont think pear pizzazz is showing as well as it could...probably my camera. It is slightly greener than certainly celery but not much. Anyhow you get the idea.

I chose to use Sahara Sand and Rich Raspberry with the Lucky Limeade and for the first time used my Build a blossom stamp set and Blossom petal punch. The wheel on the side is called In Stitches and is currently in the mini catalogue. The sentiment Curly Cute and the patterened paper is from the neutrals paper stack. Lastly I wrapped some Rich Raspberry ribbon around and made a bow. Actually its quite a quick card and a great timesaver being able to stamp and punch the petals all out instead of cutting them out with scissors.

Introducing Pool Party

Todays colour is Pool Party, slightly lighter than Baja Breeze which is one of my favourite colours.

I have just got the update for the colour coach and one of the suggestions to go with Pool Party is Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip.

I used Ornate Flowers stamp set, Eyelet border punch, the tag is from the Lots of Tags sizzix die. The sentiment is from the Just Believe stamp set and I sprinkled Glass Glitter in Champagne on a thin strip of sticky double sided tape. I wanted some Wild Wasabi ribbon to go on the card which I dont have, so I coloured some white taffeta ribbon with some of the Wasabi ink. To do this I held the ribbon on the ink pad with a dauber and then dragged the ribbon along the pad, it soon draws up the ink. Leave it to dry or heat with a heat gun or else it will transfer onto your card if it is still damp. The bakground panel is Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

Introducing Calypso Coral

Todays colour is called Calypso Coral and I have teamed it up with Baja Breeze and Daffodil Delight.

I found a pack of the rub ons that I had not used yet, Hidden Garden Blossoms and you get 2 sheets in a pack, 1 white and 1 brown. Unfortunately , these are on the retirment list so get them whilst stock lasts. I used the flower and 2 borders. The border going up the side of the card has been inked with Calypso Coral ink on the Vine and Blossom wheel and run along twice. Ribbon is Daffodil Delight 1/8" taffeta, embossing background is the squares embossing folder and the punch is the eyelet border. Little Butterflies from the Sizzix cut and emboss die Beautiful wings. Sentiment is Curly Cute and I added a silver brad to the small flower centre.

If you want to compare colours again, I made another little chart.

Introducing Wisteria Wonder

Each day this week I am looking at one of the new In Colours from Stampin'Up! We already had 5 from last year Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizazz, Concord Crush and Blushing Bride. From October 1st 2011 we have another 5 to join them making 10 in total. This is the complete In Colour family until October 1st 2012 when the 5 from 2010 will retire and another 5 will join them. So each colour lasts 2 years and then its gone.

First up this week is Wisteria Wonder, now there was alot of complaints from the when we lost so many colours last year that we were now short of lilacs/maurves....so Wisteria Wonder should help. I have made a little chart comparing the colours I think are in the same tone as Wisteria Wonder so you get an idea of how it will fit in with the colours you may already have. Also its hard to get a feel for a colour until you see it in real life so to speak. I must admit I was not sure when we got the pictures sent to us of the new colours, that I was going to like this one....but I stand corrected!!

I have teamed it up with Concord Crush, so you can see the two colours side by side. It needed something else with it so I used some Lucky Limeade for the flowers....its another new colour, more on that later this week. I have also been bit naughty and used something new that coming in the new catologue....not allowed to give details or photos of the product yet but I think you will like it!! The stamps are Vintage Vogue, the wheel Very Vintage, the embossing folder Perfect Polka Dots, inks Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade and white craft, some white ribbon and a few gems for a bit of bling on a Monday..lol!!

Snowy Cuddles easel card

This image was one that I had used recently in my Promarkers class and I finally got around to making it up into a card....and yes I have the list of colours!! I am determined to use up my scraps of previous years Christmas paper before I buy anymore...she says and I got 2 free 6x6 pads in some mags this week....but they dont count..lol!!! This card uses some of last years Bo Bunny range and one side of a sheet of 12x12 you get 4 6x6 squares which are great for using as a backing. Bo Bunny do this with all their ranges so it worth keeping an eye out. Don't think 12x12's are just for scrapping, you will gets tons of cards out of just a few papers. I also had some border stickers left over from a kit to co-ordinate with the papers. The easel card itself is from a QVC kit and as the bottom part is folded over and stuck down I dont have to attach anything to the centre to hold it in place..the lip is enough. The trees on the left were already on the paper, I just carefully cut away enough to slip the stamped image behind. One of the scraps I had was covered in trees so I cut a few out to add some more dimension.

The sentiment stamp is new from Woodware, they are doing a range of singles stamps, great value for money and I love the mixed fonts in this stamp and its quite big which is great if you are doing the larger cards. Snowflakes are a mix of punches in glitter card, scraps of Bo Bunny paper and my fluffy paper.

It does put your life in prospective and even though I have had a horrible week my family and I are still here and breathing I just wish I could say the same of the 2976 people who lost their lives that day.

Sarah Kay birthday card

Kanban Christmas

Had a lovely day yesterday just making cards for me and trying to get a head start on Christmas. As I was around a friends and she had the Kanban Christmas stamp collection from QVC delivered that week I got the chance to play with them. I have also had these GoKreate dies sitting in my trolley so I combined the two and came up with this large 8x8 scalloped card.

The scene and the reindeer are from one set, I stamped the scene first cut aorund the inside edge, sponged it with distress inks and attached foam pads on the back. Then I riped some cardstock and very lightly sponged the edges across the card to give it some depth and then added the trees and the stars...which were on other sets within the collection. Then I stick the frame on top and with some pva glue, sprinkled flowersoft to give the illusion of snow. The white die was cut and embossed and then left inside the die whilst I sponged some more ink through it, then I stamped the snowflakes randomly where you would see them. Stamped the sentiment and wrapped some twine around the bottom part and attached to back with double sided tape. Mat and layered twice more and finally added some nailheads.

I thought I would have a go at a larger 8x8 card, I love this stamp called daisy from Sugar Nellie. I did have a bit of a sort out of all my cute stamps but she one of my favourites and great for colouring. I made the border in the coral cardstock with an Ek Success punch and left the outer edge attached. I have had the Marianne corners dies for months and not used them so I popped them on as well, great for hiding untidy corners! I ruffled some seam binding to go across the middle and used a Lili of the valley sentiment punched out with a nestie. The card itself was from a QVC tsv months ago but you can buy scalloped 8x8 prescrored card packs quite easily now. As she is quite a dimensional card I made a box to send her in.

This is one of the images that the ladies coloured in during yesterdays promarker class. Last night I made it into a card using some nesties. The star was cut on the cricut and then I stuck it onto some chipboard to strengthen it and punched 2 tiny holes in the middle to thread the bakers twine through it. I egdged the nestie with some grey chalk to distress it lightly and then as I could not use flowers I stuck 3 metal grey brads in the corner.

Snowy cuddles

Today I taught a promarkers class for begginers and one of the stamp sets we used was Penny Johnson "Snowy cuddles". I promised I would post the card I made using a few more steps than they ladies did today and also giving my flexi markers an outing as I have hardly used them yet. They should be in the shops some time in september, the paler colours that are not in the standard PM range will come in very handy. The cardstock is from my old stash, that I have had a couple of years but the ribbon and the punches/nesties are still available. I am making an effort to record all the PM & FM{flexi markers} colours whenever I colour an image now and I will post the colours I have used.

Distress class

Double whammy today this morning distress card class and then this afternoon scrapbooking! Distress class was quite full on as I wanted to get some different techniques in.

First card was made with a fab stamp set from Andy Skinner....relatively new to the crafting scene, if you like anything by Tim Holtz you will love his stamps. As soon as I saw these stamps I was whisked back to life at home as a child and watching my mum dressmake. Style, butterick and is she was pushing the boat out a vogue patterns all over the place. So I decided to stamp the pattern on tissue paper, then attach to a piece of cardstock for stability. The tape measure was stamped onto some canvas and then bent into shape. I added a nestabilitie die for the doily and I pricked a row of dots all around the outside edge.

The next card is a Christmas one, using some of the stamps from the current Docraft promotion. The Santa was stamped onto white cardstock then his hat and jacket were stamped again onto Basic Grey red cardstock. I used flowersoft for his beard, jacket trimming and top of boots. The tag was embossed with tiny snowflakes with clear embossing powder and then Distress ink rubbed all over it. The embossed areas resist the ink so they pop through. The larger Kraft square was stamped with the Noel stamp and then I wiped some Boss Gloss ink around the sides and scattered some Frantage White chunky embossing powder all over it and heated. Love the effect this gives....its great for snow. Stampendous have a great new range of embossing powders, Mica flakes and glass glitter all under the Frantage name so keep your eye out in the shop.

The back layer is coredinations cardstock that was been distressed all around the edges and then inked. The script stamp just stamped onto white cardstock and inked with Distress ink Old Paper. The boat is done the same but then inked with tumbled glass and faded jeans. The horn was inked, distressed and punched out with a 1" circle punch. To finish some hemp cord.....love this stuff and its comes in a great selection of colours.

Monochromatic class

Todays class was making 3 monochromatic cards, lots of heat embossing and of course glitter!!

First card, love this stamp set from Kanban, the words are all included in the set. I would love a bath like that..lol!!

Lastly one for Christmas using a great Clarity stamp and Stamp and Bond. This is great for using with glitter...use Versamrk to ink up your stamp, dust with Stamp and bond and heat until clear. Now it is sticky, dust with glitter and tap off the excess. Give another little heat to bond powder with glitter...great effect! These snowflakes are brilliant, they come in a little box with 9 different designs, we painted them with a Ranger paint dauber....I used pearl but you could also use snow cap.

I wanted to spend some time this week doing some colouring and one of the images I wanted to use was from the Lili of the Valley stamp range. I have used Copics to colour and I made a box for the card to go in, inside I added a few borders with a Martha Stewart punch and a sentiment.

Early Bird Christmas class

Had a lovely morning teaching quick and easy Christmas cards. We all need cards that can be mass produced at Christmas, so I wanted to create a few simple yet elegant cards that can be cut up into bit sized pieces and so assembly is quick and easy. Of course Paula Pascual stamps were at the top of my list and underneath each card is listed the stamp sets used. Aplogies for photos, son pinched my decent camera for air show and I have had to use a very old one..lol!!

First up, a shaped card using a nestabilities labels 8

Cuttlebug Class

Today I had a beginners Cuttlebug class and I wanted the ladies to make cards using the machine but with other manufacturers dies etc, so they could see how versitle this machine is.

First up, simple embossing but with a twist, I matted and layered two tones of coredinations cardstock then run it through the machine to emboss together.

The next card uses a Nestabilitie to make a shaped card.....easily done just fold and score some cardstock in half, place the nesties just over the score line so its not touching and run through the machine, emboss if wished and you have a shaped card! The white areas of the snowflakes are crushed velvet or flocked...from Doodlebug, it comes as a 12x12 sheet so you would get loads out of 1 sheet!!

Last card uses some of the new X-Cut layering dies....these are great value for money....prices vary depending on size from £9.95 to £12.95 and come in similar shapes to some of the nesties but at a fraction of the cost plus you get a magnetic mat inside the packaging to keep the dies on!! The flower was embossed and then gently wiped with a Versamark ink pad and dusted with some Perfect Pearls. We also cut a flower through some white felt to show its not just cardstock that will go through a Cuttlebug.

Dads 80th card

This weekend saw my dad turn 80 and this is the card I made for him. A change this year as usually its golf themed..but I think he has had every stamp and die cut out there so I went for the nautical look!

I stamped the boat twice, once on the kraft cardstock and then I stamped the sails again on white and cut them out and attached with foam pads.

Stampin'Up Die cutting class

These are the cards and box the class made yesterday, we used the fabulous "fun flowers and top note" dies. The embossing folder is square lattice and I have yet to meet anybody who does not love this one! Buttons are from the embosslits die...which cuts and embosses at the same time...great for using on scraps. Border punch is the scallop trim. Papers are sprintime vintage 12x12's, together with very vanilla, rose red and pear pizzazz cardstock. Tiny tags stamps and punch were used under the button. Flower stamps on the last card are from the just believe set, with some pear pizzazz seam binding gathered up by pulling a few threads from the middle and attached with tape on back. The sentiment if from the curly cute set. I am going to take some pictures tomorrow of how to make the tag for the sentiment on the flower card...its was made using the decorative label punch.

Kanban class

Today I had a lovely quite and relaxing Kanban class.....great ideas for quick and easy cards using the diecuts and concept cards from the Classic Butterflys collection.

This comes as a kit, inside you get a sheet of diecut and foiled flowers and butterflys and birdcages. Also 1 large and 2 small concept cards and an easel card. In class we shared the die cuts between 2 people and each person made 4 cards. First up the ladies made a concept card

If you buy the kit you can add one of the sentiments...I left mine off so the ladies had more to go around. You can 2 different designs in the kits.

Then we made 3 other cards with the diecuts...I used Spellbinders lacey squares and normal squares to make the frame.

The second one used Spellbinders labels 20

The third one, just simply matted and some of the border and sentiments added from one of the sheets in the kit.

All the cards used Bazzill Whirlpool and Bitter Chocolate and some lovely matt gold embossed cardstock from the shop.

then the biggest card in the kit.

Bear in mind the ladies only had half the diecuts each so you can make minimum of 10 cards from the 1 kit. I love the colours and as I said great for making up quickly and keeping for those OOPS moments we all have, when a birthday is looming and you dont have time to make a card!!!

Stampin'Up classes

As nothing seems to be afoot with me moving quickly I have booked some Stampin'Up classes at home this month.

Die cutting/embossing class...in this class we will use some of the Sizzix dies and embossing folders currently in the mini catalogue.

Thursday 21st July7.30pm til 10.00pm
Saturday 23rd July 2.00pm til 4.30pm

I will repeat each class 3 times so I cover ladies that work/retired and have children...so one during the day, one evening and one saturday afternoon . We will see how we go from there. Everything is supplied but you are welcome to bring your own tools if you want. The cost £8.00 and you will make 3 cards/projects. Payment is required upfront, either cheque or bank transfer ...if you are unable to attend then I will transfer you to another class.

Hobbyarts class

This week I had my resheduled Hobbyart class from when I was ill. There was a new set of stamps featuring airplanes that would be great for male cards. The coluring in this card was done with Whisper pens just scribbled onto a plate and the picked up with a wet paintbrush.

The second card used the Tuscany and Window Scene it set with a hole cut out of the centre so you could see the stamped scene inside the card. The sky was done using another Hobbyart stamp, a wooden one this time called stormy clouds. All the colouring in this card was done with Tim Holtz Dsitress Inks.

Lastly a quick and easy card using the Tuscany stamps again and the pens, cut out with a Nestie nd then the border inked with a Versmark ink pad.

Backgrounds class

Had a lovely, if very hot, evening last night with my ladies doing a backgrounds class. We made 3 cards using different ways of making a background with products you probably already have in your crafting stash.

First up a simple square of cardstock that was covered with ordinary pva glue and then a scruthed up piece of tissue paper laid on top. Little bit of glue on the back to stick the ends so you get nice neat edges and then leave to one side to dry. When dry we used a lovely script stamp from Artemio with Broken China Distress ink and stamped twice so entire piece was covered. The stamp and franked images were also Artemio and stamped with Versafine Sepia ink. Little bit of Tea dye ink was brushed around the edge. The Butterflys are stamped with the Sepia ink again and the coloured with chalks and cotton wool. We kept the circle nestie in place and chalked around that, then added the verse. Lovely cream seam binding to finish.

Next one used Adirondak Pearl paint dabber....we stamped the leaf stamp all over the cardstock with the paint then leave again to dry. When dry we brushed Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint distress ink all over and wiped away the excess with a clean tissue. The paint resists the ink and pearl effect pops back through. The same paint was used on the seedhead stamp and then cut with a nestie. Then we used my newest nestie sets Floral Doily accents.....love these!! Cream seam binding threaded through the holes and then some pearl paper to cut a sentiment panel with Grommet tags set. We made this into a big 8x8 card from Papermania.

Lastly, the Forever Friends card using Kraft cardstock and a small patterened stamp randomly stamped all over. This one is from the Black and Gold collection that we have in the shop. When you have finshed stamping place the cardstock in an embossing folder. I like to use something with a small repeated pattern...this card uses Houndstooth. When its been embossed it looks like wallpaper or fabric. I lovely effect and something different from just embossing a plain piece of cardstock. We then die cut on of the bear stamps with a nestie, coloured in and some lovely lace and pearls to finish.

This week I had a great class where we made cards that are folded in different ways. We used the lovely new range of papers and die cuts from Nitwits called Butterfly Kisses.

First one a concertina fold with a difference....not sure if it has a proper name! The front panel has been cut with a Lacey squares Nestabilitie.

I keep the middle panel plain so it could be matted with white cardstock and hold your sentiment and greeting.

Next one is a stepper card with two thin panels on the sides and the main panel central...I forgot to take a picture of the side view sorry!!

Lastly a small 4" card with a fold inside

I am going to work on doing a tutorial for the stepper card this weekend as I have been asked how to make one. The shop have the nitwit papers and die cuts should be back in stock soon as we sold out after class.

Update and a pop up card

Well the last few weeks have been interesting to say the least....started with my son catching a virus so having him home in bed meant I had to be quite...so not much crafting done. Then I got cracking with classes and workshops that I had all planned only to fall ill with the bug myself...so all my plans went right out of the window!!!

So I am now playing catch up...so just wanted to let you know a couple of things and then I have a card to show you.

Firstly, the new class list is up and running this weekend at In2crafting. I have added some of my ones to my side bar...if you want to see the complete list until the end of September then workshops should be on the In2crafting web site by tomorrow. If you prefer you can pick up a printed copy from the shop, bookings start straight away.

Also from August I am taking over the scrapbook classes.....first on Saturday 20th August at 2.00pm. We will start with one Saturday a month but if there is enough interest we can run them on a weekday as well. First theme will be suitable for girls and then in September we will tackle those summer holiday photos. If you have any ideas for future scrapbook classes then please let either myself of the shop know. I will be looking at gift ideas in the coming months ....ready for christmas presents.

I am also going to restart some Stampin'Up classes from home during the summer...details will follow soon.

So now onto my card.....never made a pop up card like this before but I quite like the way it turned out. Needed to do a bit of faffing as the instructions I found on the web were for american sizes...but I got there in the end. This card is for one of my best friends Heather, we share a love of anything Inkylicious so when Deby brought out these new stamps... I just had to have them!!

The flower image was created by using the duster brushes to blend the Adirondak inks over some silk cardstock. Then I stamped my images and with a water brush painted over the flower petals....as the ink is water based it starts to lift off...just take your time and dab with kitchen towel to remove any excess water.

Yesterday I had a lovely morning teaching a beginners Promarkers class....this was a repeat from earlier in the class list but as we dont have any Fizzy moon stamps left I came up with a Forever Friends alternative. Inkylicious Duster brushes class

This weeks class featured a new way to blend ink, using duster brushes from Inkylicious. These are double ended brushes that give a lovely effect to your cards when dabbed on ink pads and blended onto satin cardstock. The brushes are in stock still at the shop....you get 3 in a pack and they are double ended for £12.99

Last weeks Calibur Class

Why does everything go wrong at the same time!!! My computer crashed last week and its taken ages to get it right again, plus I lost my pictures of cards to show you. Anyway, last night I managed to photograph them again, so better late than never here are the cards from last weeks Calibur class.

This card is mounted onto a 8x8 card from Papermania...you could use the largest of the square or scalloped square grand dies but as I dont have them yet went with the prescored ones. Then I used one of the largest to cut a shape in Black Bling cardstock, next the Kanban cardstock went through on the next size down. I used one of the smaller dies to make a aperture in the middle. The perfume bottle and Glamour Puss wording was stamped on white cardstock with Black pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The patterened cardstock with them attached with foam pads and ribon wrapped to one side. The sentiment was inked and embossed again and matted with 2 other sizes of labels 1 dies.

This card was cut on the largest Labels 1 die just slightly off centre so the fold was kept in tack. Then using several sizes I die cut a mat in the kanban cardstock and the Bazzill Bling Black cardstock. The ladie was stamped onto white cardstock and then I used the "out of the box " technique with a smalller die from the same set. I stamped the ladie again onto Biege cardstock and cut her dress and stuck onto the inked image. I did the same for the hat and the umberlla but this time on some scraps of the Kanban cardstock. I coloured her skin and shoes with promarkers. The fans are from one of the Martha Stewart punches and the sentiment was stamped onto the fancy labels die to finish off the card.

Last card was made using Grand labels 11, cut and the folded in two. I made more layers with Prima cardstock, Green Bazzill and Pink colorcore cardstock. The Butteflys were die cut and punched and then attached glue down the centres. Leaves were cut on the cricut to save some time, sentiment was stamped onto a smaller die from the original labels 11 set.

Wednesdays class this week is all about the new fab die cutting machine the Grand Calibur and the Grand Nestabilities dies. If you love making the larger cards that are so popular at the moment you will love this machine. To embellish the cards we are using some fab Kanban stamps and a gorgeous butterfly die from Marianne. Here are a few snapshots, I will post the cards in full when I get back from teaching.

May is a busy month for celebrations! Both sons birthdays and mine and my mum and dads anniversary...and they clash with the birthdays!! So todays post is James Birthday card....I am not seeing him til tomorrow as he is having a day in Italy as treat from his girlfriend. Big thanks to Val for sending me these images to make into a card....I love this PTI set and its on my wish list for when I can afford to order..lol!! He still loves his Xbox games and after a stressful day at work its his way of relaxing....game on!!

Todays card is the last one from the stamp camp I did last weekend. If you love anything Cath Kidson style you will love these stamps and papers. I stamped the frame twice, once to stamp the flowers onto and then the second one I cut out the middle to make a frame and applied foam pads on the back.

I can now see why everyone is going mad over seam binding!! I love the effect you get by gatering it...because its so soft it comes together so easily. I attached my piece on the back of the embossed panel with double sided tape....you need something to hold it in place before you start to pull. Take a few threads from the middle of the other cut end ...either with your fingers or some tweezers if you prefer . Pull them gently and the rest of the ribbon will start to gather. Keep going until you have enough to cover the area you want and then stick down on the back of the cardstock again with tape.

Lastly using the new Me to You range from Do Crafts, a stepper card. The flowers this time where made out of felt. For the best results use a felt thats not to thick but quite dense in the weave, otherwise you get fluffy edges where its no cut right.

The biggest surprise in the new mini catalogue was the inclusion of the Sizzix dies, embossing folders and embosslits. The two items today are made from a selection of the designs we now have. First the card...

Its only 4" wide and I have scored two lines just above the scallop border but its not showing very well in the picture. The gift box to match is small but great for all sorts....

Todays post is the third card that was made at Stamp camp at the weekend, Wedding sweet is a fabulous set for weddings, anniversarys and engagements etc. There is a co-ordinating wheel as well and a lovely alphabet great for doing monograms.

Hope you are all enjoying the BH weekend....great weather still...little blowy but sunny!! To be honest I will be glad to get back into some sort of normal routine..........its seems like weeks ago that the colleges broke up and with my son missing the 3 days inbetween easter and this weekend with a tummy bug he has actually only been at college for just 1 week in the whole of April and that was at the beginning!!! Not that he is complaining and with hubby off as well I keep loosing track of what day it is..lol!! I spent friday with Mum watching the wedding on TV....what a fabulous day, they make a great couple and you could feel the whole country's spirit lifted after all the doom and gloom we are going through at the moment. With my sons wedding to plan next year, I was on the look out for ideas..lol!!

Sewing images in cardmaking and scrapbooking seem to be one of the "in things" at the moment, so this set is ideal with the ruler and the tailyors dummys and the sewing machine, amongst others. I love the embosslits....these great little dies cut and emboss at the same time...great for using up scraps of cardstock and keeping in a little bag until needed. I know its a bit "loud" colour wise but hey it makes a change from pastels, its also the colours in the patterened paper thats matches this set.

Onto a some sneak peaks of what the girls are doing in class this week....Flowers to die for! They are making their own flower embellishments to go on cards. We will be using the new Marianne dies, some fab fab new nestabilities and a paper folding technique to make a huge flower....great for the bigger cards.

The cream panel was stamped with Versamark ink and the chalks in Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler were dabbed over wet ink, then the same was repeated with Early Espresso chalk on the bees. The birdcage was done in the same way but then cut from a scrap of card and mounted with foam pads. The butterfly and eggs stamps were also from the same collection.

Birthday stepper card

After what seems ages....I actually have made a card thats not for a class!! Its my daughters best friends birthday today and she wanted something different. So remembering I had some stepper cards left I decided to use one of those together with a Kanban stamp set I "persuaded " a friend to buy months ago ;)

More Kanban cards

Following on from yesterdays post, here are the cards I made with the left overs from the kit. The first one just a simple square cut with a nestabilitie and then the die cut is floating on a piece of acetate.

The second one is a tiny easel card using eyelet squares nestabilities

The third, very simple with a Fiskars border punch along the bottom

Eyelet border punch again, this time I cut a square in the middle to make a frame

This one started off as a square of background cardstock trimmed to the right size, I cut the eyelet square nestabilitie out of the centre...leaving me a negative frame. Cut another the same size but in pink cardstock and placed back into the frame and then added a few gems to finish.

Lastly, the cupcake card...the frame is on the front of the card and the die cut is attached to the back.

Kanban class

Class this week was slightly different, in that we used a Kanban die cut pack. In the pack you get a whole sheet of die cuts, plus a sheet with a prescored card and envelope plus extra die cut toppers and borders. The theme of this class was to make quick and easy cards for when you need something urgently. The ladies made 5 cards inc the one in the pack but I went on to challenge myself to see how many others I could make. So including the pack plus a A4 sheet of backing card that matches the kit pack, I made 11 cards. All I used was 2 sheets of 12x12 cardstock.... Bazzill Bling "in the pink" and Mediterranean cordinations cardstock, plus white prescored cards/envelopes and a sheet of A4 white cardstock which we all have in our stash.

First card they made was with the card thats included in the pack and I chose the shoe die cut to go on the front...you get lots of sentiments as well.

the second one is a tent topper card and used Nestabilities circles and lacey circles, grosgrain ribbon from the shop and Mark Richards Nailheads.

the third one, a simple one with the tea pot and cup and I used a Martha Stewart doily punch down the side and a few clear gems stones

the fourth card opens up with a flap on the front and inside I added the telephone and the sentiment

then lastly the dress card which had one of the new Nestabilities labels 20 on it

The die cuts and backing sheet is from the English Riveria collection and are instock at the shop at the moment.

Tomorrow I will post the remaining cards I made with what I had left over.

Acetate class...with a springtime theme

Yesterday class was using acetate....these are the cards the girls made.

Firstly, using a feb new set from Hero Arts called Dotty flowers. The flowers were stamped onto acetate with Brilliance white ink and the leaves with black ink onto green Bazzill. The centres were punched out of yellow cardstock with several sizes of circle punches and black brads held it all in place. Also used my new Nestabilities die Labels 20..from this years CHA release.

Onto the next one and for this the card was made from a 4" strip off a 12x12 sheet of white cardstock, folded in half and then a piece of acetate was cut to fit the front panel. Its stuck on the lefthand side behind the ribbon so you cant see it.

Lastly, using promarkers and the cute Springime stamps from Forever Friends, they made this Easter card. Acetate was used as the base of the card...so bear in mind that you need one thats a bit thicker than normal so it can stand the weight of what you attach to it. The butterflys are stamped with Stazon White ink. The pretty papers are from the same line as the stamps.

Acetate class sneaky peeks

Morning all, looks like today is going to be another glorious one............although I must admit when I dropped my son off at work at 6.30am it was freezing..lol!!!

Day of decorating and cupboard clearing ahead of me but just wanted to let you have a look at some peeks of what cards we are making in class this Tuesday. Its an acetate class, with a springtime theme..there are a few places left if you are interested, just phone the shop on Monday.

This mornings class was a "beginners guide" to using Promarkers. They made 2 cards from the images they coloured....just quick and easy cards, as time was spent learning the best ways to use the pens.

First up a Magnolia card...the ribbon, flowers and pearls were all coloured with Promarkers to match the colours used in the card.

Perfect Pearls class

Last night I had a class at Wickford using Perfect Pearls, a great medium to use on your cards. First card the girls made was just stamping an image with Versamark or you can use Pefect Medium and then gently dabbing the Perfect Pearls in different colours to areas of the image. When you have finished use a brush or cotton wool to remove excess powder.

For the second card they stamped the Agapanthus and dusted with gold Perfect Pearls and made a backgound by spraying the through a mask/template. As Perfect Pearls has a built in binder it mixes with water very easily. Just put a little in a water spritzer and add water from the tap...the more powder the more intense the colour. The flowers were just ordinary white paper ones and with a little water you can mix it into paint and then just apply to flowers.

Perfect Pearls: Gold and Heirloom gold

Lastly, we used a flower stamp that was inked with Black pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and heated. Then using different colours painted each area with the Perfect Pearls mixed with a little water. For the strip at the back, cover with Versamark or Perfect Medium , dust with Gold Perfect Pearls and then they inked up a little flourish stamp from the same set with Versamark again and when you stamp onto the Perfect Pearls it removes it, leaving an clear image of the stamp. Each time you stamp clean it afterwards and the reink...that way you get a clean image each time. When you have finished using Perfect pearls as a powder to stop it coming off just spritz lightly with a mister with water in and dry with a heat gun if needed. It seals the powder to stop it coming off in your hands or in the envelope.

On looking through my memory card I came across a card I had not posted yet. This was made for a friends birthday using my new Inkylicious dusters. I brushed distress inks over the cardstock...I used some satin card, then layered onto a Martha Stewart punched panel. Clean and simple card...but my fav to make!

Love these dies as they have a slot to thread ribbon through, you get 2 dies in the pack and a little flourish. One die has the slotted flower and the the other die is the same shape but slightly bigger...its the pink dots in the picture.

To decorate the shoe we made a mask and stamped the honeysuckle corner randomly through the mask onto a stamped shoe image. Great way of turning a plain shoe into something a little different. The corner was used again in Silver and the sentiments are from the same set as the first card. A little bling was added of course!

Sneaky peaks of next weeks class

Not had much time for posting this week as I have had some repeats of classes I have done already because they filled up and also a couple of new ones to prepare for over the next fortnight. The current class list is coming to an end now and this morning the new list for the next months was revealed. So if you are local to me in Essex and fancy coming along you can see the list here. Lots of different styles and techniques on offer from all the teachers and if you are not into cardmaking/scrapping...there are pergamano, drawing and tedding bear making classes.

My next class is next Monday and its cards suitable for Mothers day or just a female relative/ friends birthday. I have popped in a twisted easel and they all seem to be the rage now and one with stamps from Clarity..which I am sure most of you will have heard of and the shop are now selling.

Papertrey Ink

A group of us on the ILWS forum are passionate about Papertrey Ink, its only sold in the USA so we often club together to bulk order from the new releases each month. Today some of the girls are meeting for a shoebox swap. If you have not heard of one before it means everyone designs a card, then pops all the cut up elements to make thats card in a poly bag..enough for everyone. You put the stamps and anything else you need to complete the card in a shoebox and everyone passes each others shoebox around until you have made all the cards. Some of the girls cant make it today including myself but are still joining in by doing it all by post. The stamps have to be from PTI but the ink and cardstock can be SU....this is my card....

Some of us are also doing a card candy swap, we make up 4 pieces each using whatever PTI products we want to...again substituting SU products if we dont have the PTI equivalent. Lots of cutting and stamping later this is my little lot, just before it was all sent off.

I kept the colours the same, but used some of the different stamps and die cuts in my PTI stash....its not very big at the moment but I suspect by the time I have opened my box of goodies that has been sent to me...I will want more...lol!!!

Acetate class

Busy class today, making cards with acetate.I will add that acetate cards are a nightmare to photograph...so apologies! We used some lovely new stamps from Woodware for the first one. A 3/4" circle punch has been stuck behind the flower centre, the brads hold the acetate to the card.

This Martha Stewart punch is lovely with ribbon threaded through...there is a corner punch to match. Next card uses acrylic paint. The acetate used is a heat resistant one....firstly we used the anti static pad to stop specks of powder getting everywhere you don't want them, we then stamped the small leaf stamp with Versamark ink and heat embossed with embossing powder. The acetate was cut into squares and on the reverse dabbed 2 shades of green paint all over the back and then pressed a square of white card onto the back. The paint will stick the two layers together.

The sentiment is cut with my new punch for Kars...I have wanted this for ages and if you love Paula Pascuals little sentiments like I do...you will love it! Onto the last card....lots of embossing and cutting on this one to make a stand alone acetate card. It needs to be thick acetate for this....I used the papermania 12x12 pack.

You need to remember that anything you put on the front of the card will be seen from the back...so remember that when coming up with a design. I have repeated my Nesties and border shapes on the back to cover where you see the glue. The embossing folder is also for the promo...and I love the new x-cut border dies. A great price at £7.95 and bigger enough to put on larger cards, its goes through the cuttlebug and big shot as well. There are lots of designs to choose from. The sentiment has been punched with the kars punch again ... you get 4 little designs on the punch.

Gift card class

Todays class was something a little different....not cards as such but gift cards. Its such a popular way now to send money to spend on the high street and these little cards are made to hold them. We made 3 different styles...firstly with a nestabilitie labels 8 die and some K&Co hopscotch paper. The flowers were cut on the cricut and the sentiement is from Paula Pascual Mixed sentiments set stamped in Versafine Sepia ink.

The inside is just have the nestie shape again to form a pocket.

Next a card made from the new Do crafts promo...Pampered Pets. Queen of Cats is the cat stamp we used, then some of the paper pad from the same range behind the image. Bling of course is esential for the "queen" and we just added a little colour with pencils. The die cut sentiments are great for just £2.00 a pack...and you get 2 sheets one with messages and one without so you can add your own. The style of the this gift card is like the old matchboxes used it be when I was young...you can make it either way horizontal or landscape.

Inside it opens up to a pocket thats holds a tag for the card to stick to, with a glue dot. Sentiment is from the new Woodware all through the year stamp set.

Lastly, one for the boys/teenagers....an Oakley stamp from Wiff of Joy, coloured in pencils and blended with odourless soloution. Sentiment again is from the Mixed Sentiment stamps from Paula Pascual and punched out with a 1" circle punch and inked with Versafine Sepia ink again. Sentiment at the back is from the Hobbyarts.
