Winter Wonderland

Its full on now with Christmas card making, so thought I would share a card I made for a class recently at Bitz & Glitz.

I stamped the tree image twice with a soft grey ink. Die cut and embossed the Deer's and then sponged through some Brown ink to highlight. The snow is done with torn pieces of White card and then glittered along the edges.

Indigoblu class

Todays cards are from a recent Indigoblu class, using some of the new stamps released for this Christmas. The first one is a bauble from Spellbinders, that has been distressed with inks and then the Snowflake stamp inked with Flitter glue and the new gilding flake rubbed over the top. I also used some more flake on top of double sided tape to make an edge around the card. The ribbon was sprayed with a pearly spray mist, scrunched up and wiped through some of the distress ink.  Once its dried you can see the shimmer of the pearl spray plus it matches the ink used on the card

Craft Club at Forget Me Knot

Now the seasonal festivities are over craft club has started up again. I have had some blogger problem so could not post until now....this is the card we did last week using Creative Expressions Micro beads. A piece of white card was stamped all over with the Indigoblu stamps. Then I covered it with a piece of double sided adhesive and cut into 4 equal sized pieces, then sprinkle the micro beads over the sticky panels. I mounted each strip onto some coral and attached to a piece of green card , wrapped some ribbon from the front and stamped and matted a sentiment to finish.

Its hard to see the effect the beads have from the photograph, I took a closer one to get a better look

Acetate class

Love using acetate on cards and for this class we used two different types, the thick one to make a card base as it needs to be strong enough to stand up. The second one, a thinner type was suitable for just stamping on but use the correct ink or else it wont dry....for these cards I used White Stazon.

Products used:

Stamps: Indigoblu Christmas Greeting, Sam Poole Silhouette Poinsettia
Dies/Punch: Martha Stewart Branch, Tim Holtz Festive Greenery { swirls},Spellbinder Labels 22
Papers: Echo Park Reflections
Extras: Distress Ink Festive Berries, White Stazon Ink, Red Gingham ribbon, Yellow pearls

Second card, hard to photograph again but the base is 12" x 6" and scored in half. You also need to remember to cover all your glue with layers of card as you can see it. The red glitter was adhered to adhesive sheets instead of using wet glue.

Products used:

Stamps: Indigoblu Snowflakes { from sentiment set} Crafty Impressions Bauble sentiment
Dies: Spellbinders labels
Extras: Cosmic Shimmer Red polished glitter, Mirror card, Gems, White ribbon, double sided adhesive sheet, silver glitter gel pen.

All that glitters class

I am determined this week to catch up with posting cards from my classes at Forget me knot over the last few weeks.

First up is all that glitters class the Poinsettia background stamp is from Stampendous, which was coloured in with Promarkers and inked around the edges with Distress ink. We then used Ranger sticky embossing powder and Tim Holtz Distress Rock Candy glitter. Sentiment is from Indigoblu.

The second card uses a snowflake mask from That Special Touch, Cosmic Shimmer glitters and another sentiment from Indigoblu. Finished off with some Nailheads, ribbon and some mirror card. The mask are quite big so this is a 8x8 card.

Gilding flakes using a mask

Todays card uses gilding flakes again but with a 6" square template/mask. The only thing to bear in mind is if you are doing the whole template you will use quite a lot of flake. So on this card I did a smaller area of the template and then cut into 4 squares to give the illusion its a bigger piece than it is. I temporary attached the mask to a piece of white card with some masking tape and then using more tape masked an area roughly the size I wanted. Using the flitter glue and cut n dry foam press the glue over the area making sure the glue goes in all the detailed areas. Carefully remove the mask and pop into a bowl of soapy water so it cleans the glue off. Now you can apply the flakes to the sticky areas and using a scrubby sponge take off the excess flakes. I then cut this piece into 4 even squares and matted with black and then using a smaller piece of card stamped the flower stamp slightly off set and applied flake in the usual way.  Its a quick and easy card and a great use for all those masks of any size.

products used:

Stamps: Indigoblu Wild Meadow, Paula Pascual sentiment from Mix and Match set
Mask: Crafters Workshop Flower Frenzy { although I think this one is discontinued they are similar ones}
Flakes/Glue: Cosmic Shimmer Copper and Indigoblu Flitter glue
Extras: Black card, Black Ink pad and Mark Richard Black pearls.

Truly, Madly, Deeply

Another card today from the demo day { not many left promise}. This using some stamps from Indigoblu and the Copper flakes. When using flakes with words its always better to use a plain coloured flake as it shows the wording up much better than the multi coloured ones. I also wanted to show that you don't have to always stamp onto white/plain cardstock, this is some double sided 12x12 cardstock that where in the shop and the stamping was done directly onto the reverse sides, which happened to have a plainer more distressed look which I really liked. Then I used the more patterned pieces to make up the rest of the card, I also stamped one of the dinkie flourish designs onto the pink panel. I used some distress ink after I had flaked the heart stamp whilst the Spellbinders die was still attached to the square card.

Summer Lovin

Back to demo days cards, this one uses a fab stamp from Indigoblu.I teamed the stamp up with the Chicken Wire stamp from Inkylicious, which has been gilded with Silver flakes. The Silver flower has been gilded as well on a separate piece using the highlighter glue from Cosmic Shimmer, cut out and attached with foam pads. The flowers and butterflies have been very simply coloured with Distress pens, these are the only colours I have so had to make do as I was running out of time.

Letter rack and Gilding flakes

I have had the blank MDF letter rack hanging about for months so I thought I would paint it and show you can use gilding flakes on wood as well as paper.

The rack was painted with Kaisercraft acrylic paint , then I dry brushed a darker colour over the top to age it. Next I used a crackle stamp to make a distressed look all over the back and front with a Adirondack ink pad. I then stamped the flourish stamp a few times from Indigoblu with Flitter glu and applied the flakes and buffed off as you usually would.

I stamped the verse on a piece of card and then added some stamps from another Indigoblu set and gilded certain areas. Finally I stamped  butterfly from the set onto acetate and using the new Cosmic Shimmer flake glue that comes in a bottle like a nail varnish, I applied the glue to the reverse side and waited for it to go tacky then applied flakes and buffed off excess. This was then attached with some foam pads to create dimension.

Lastly, I took some patterned paper from the shop and covered the inside of the rack to give it a more finished look.

Products used:

Stamps: Indigoblu Wild Meadow, Vintage Flourish {large}, Crackleglaze

Distress Class at Forget me Knot

This week I had a lovely distress class, using the Tim Holtz ink pads and pens. The first card we made uses some of the fabulous stamps from Indigo Blu. I showed the ladies how to colour seam binding using the ink pads. The frame was stamped twice and one cut out and attached with foam pads onto the background. The flowers were stamped and coloured using the foam applicators and a pen was used to colour the centres. The leaves were stamped using the pens....a great idea if you have a colour in a pen but not the same colour in the pad.

products used:

Stamps: Indigo Blu Blooming Great
Card: Distress Co-ordination Crushed Olive, Brown card, white smooth
Distress Inks: Dried Marigold and Shaded Lilac
Pens: Crushed Olive and Mustard Seed
Ribbon: Seam Binding

Next card was made using a super stamp from Justrite, great for mens cards and with fathers day just around the corner ideal. I stamped the image twice and from one piece cut out elements to colour and attach back on foam pads. The sentiment is also from Justrite but could easily say Happy Birthday. This is a huge red rubber stamp and I can see lots of ideas to play with over the coming months, its stamps beautifully...as do all Justrite stamps whether they are rubber or poly.

products used:

Stamps: Justrite London background, Justrite All in the Family sentiments
Inks: Distress Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo, Black Soot
Tumbled Glass, Fired Brick,
Embellishments: Bakers twine

All stamps and inks can be brought or ordered from the shop

Gilding flakes class

This week I had a class using gilding flakes. We made 2 cards using 2 different techniques, first one using Indigo Blu Flitter glue

Apologies for photo not being great but photographing mirror card is a nightmare, I added some gold Nailheads to the corners in class but forgot to take pic, will replace next week

products used:

Stamps: Woodware In the Hedgerow
Glue: Flitter Glu from Indigo Blu
Inks: Archival Black
Flakes: Cosmic Shimmer Egyptian Gold

products used:

Stamps: Justrite Fancy sentiments
Die : Marianne Butterfly
Embellishments: Mark Richards Nailheads
cardstock: kraft and mirror from shop and Woodware adhesive sheets

The second card uses double sided adhesive paper to run through a die cutting machine. When you take the top layer off its sticky enough to hold your flakes, rub away excess flakes and you are left with a great embellishment to a card. I stuck mine onto a piece of thin card before running through machine so I could have it attached to card with some foam pads down the middle.

All stamps and dies can be brought from Forget Me Knot contact details on side bar. Next weeks class is using Distress ink pads and pens, there are a few spaces left if you are interested.

Pan Pastel class

Had my first class today at Forget Me Not craft shop using Pan Pastels.

First card is just using 3 shades of Magenta Pan Pastels....Magenta Tint, Magenta and Magenta shade. The stamps were inked and stamped with versamark ink and then using the sponges 3 Magenta pans were blended over the top, the same technique with the lattice stamp. I then took a battery operated rubber and took away some of the pastels to highlight areas.

Products used:

Stamps: Indigo Blu Anenome corner, Inkylicious sentiment and Lattice background
Mediums: Pan Pastels
Inks: Versamark pad and Black dye ink
Extras: Black satin ribbon, battery operated rubber

The second card uses Pan Pastels through a mask...you can use any mask you may have, this is a 6" square one from Crafters Workshop. The butterflies were stamped on a piece of card with 2 colour of Pan Pastels blended on them and then stamped with a brown ink and cut out. The mask was laid across the tag and using the knifes with socks tool gently apply Pan Pastels through the mask. The little flourish stamps are from the sentiment stamp set.

Products Used:

Stamps: Artemio Manuscript Background & Floral Butterflies, Justrite Large Fancy Sentiments
Mask: Crafters Workshop Mini Flower Frenzy
Mediums: Pan Pastels Turquoise, Bright Yellow Green
Ink: Archival Coffee
Embellishments: Gems/ribbon

Ideally, these cards need to be sealed, I used cheap hairspray or you could use the Crafters Companion sprays.

All the products used in the class can be brought from here Forget Me Not crafts ,details of my other classes here are on my side bar and can be booked through the shop on 01702 547833.
