Happy 5th birthday

 Hi, is it too late to wish you happy new year? Apologies for the lack of posts but on the day I last posted both my hubby and I tested positive for covid and I just haven't had the energy to make anything let alone sit in front of laptop and blog. Although I had fewer symptoms than my husband I am still very fatigued but I needed to make a card for my grandson birthday so made myself sit and make that at the very least. To be honest the doggy die cut I had already made up, I used the same one for my grandaughter last year and I had made a couple at same time. As he has dogs in the house I thought he would like one on his card. I used a balloon stamp and die set and die cut the number to go on top. The stitched rectangles are a die I have had for a few years now and use for peek a boo style designs. I found the little hat stamp on an old sentiment set. I used a landscape 5x7 side folding card blank.

I hope you are all keeping safe and well, please take care to look after yourselves. We did everything we could but still caught it. My husband is a lot fitter than me and I have never seen him so ill its was frightening and I was convinced at one stage he would end up in hospital. Things will get better , we just have to hang on in there abit longer. Hopefully I will be back with some cards next week .

 

Advent Calendars

 No cards today instead advent calendars. I made some new ones for the older grandchildren with bigger boxes. The red and green one I used red card for the boxes and the papers are from the Christmas Wishes paper pad I have been using this year. The boxes themselves are simple 2" x 2" boxes with a flap opening and I punched a small area with a circle punch to make it easier to open them. I had space to put Santa and his sleigh on the top. This was made from my much loved Elizabeth Crafts dies. I used some gold stickers I had for the number. 

For the second one I went with blue boxes and the Stampin Up papers I have been using recently. I made a polar bear using the Elizabeth dies and added a hat with a new set she brought out this year. I also added some snowflakes to the sides of some of the boxes. The numbers for this one were cut from a Tonic die in mirror card.

Polar Bear card

The third card today in my little series of cute and whimsy cards. I love this cute Polar Bear die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I teamed it up with their Igloo die and the same background stamp as I used yesterday. Once its folded this card fits in a normal C6 envelope but when you open it up makes a longer card with a side panel .  The die cuts are mainly white with some ink blending.

My posts of the next few days feature cute/whimsy cards. Today's card features Santa and his sleigh and uses some dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. Its a stand up box card that folds flat for posting. I did a similar one last year but I did a class kit recently and needed to create another one.  The background has been created using Distress Oxide inks and the sentiment is a new one this year from Creative Expressions and perfect for this card. The dies were all cut in white cardstock and I used various Distress Inks to colour them all in. I dont have all the colours I wanted for the sky in Distress Ink so I used Oxides instead but you could of course use the same ink range for all the card. I created some snow along the bottom by tearing some card and adding some ink and glitter.

Happy 6th Birthday

Happy Sunday, today I have a card I made my grandaughter as she was 6 on thursday. Had to be cute of course, so this year I went with a little dog. The die is from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I added a link ink around the edges. The circle die is from MFT and I wanted a script type background but I didn't have a suitable stamp. Instead I dug out a stamp that had birthday wording in a single line and I staggered it in lines across a piece of pink card and then die cut the stitched circle out. I stamped it in a pink ink that was as close as I could get to the cardstock, alternatively you could use Versamark ink. The balloons are from Sue Wilson and I die cut her age to go on one of the balloons.I drew the highlight in with a pen and tied some bakers twine to each balloon and then secured behind the dogs paw. Finished off with a grandaughter stamp on a stitched rectangle die.

Faceted Ornament Treat Box

I have always done a little table gift for everyone who has come for Christmas dinner. This year I made this unusual faceted ornament box. I have popped some yummy chocolates and a lotto ticket in them this year. The little ones have something different, will share that tomorrow. Another super cute card today , again using Elizabeth Craft designs dies. Its a stand-up box style card, which folds flat. I die cut all the elements in White cardstock and then coloured with Distress inks. The night sky background was done with Distress Oxide inks and I splatted it with some diluted White acrylic paint. The snow effect at bottom is just some torn card with a little ink blended across the edges. Its finished off with some the same die as I used in yesterdays card and a few stars from a sequin pack I had in my stash.

Penguin Easel and Shaker card

Not long now and Christmas will be here! Today and tomorrow I am showing you the cards I have made for my Grandchildren. This card is an easel design and I have used the Elizabeth Craft Penguin. I saw these little foam snowballs in The Range, I think they were Trimcraft. I had some shaker cups in my stash that I used to fill with the snowballs and attached the Penguin on the front. I coloured the Penguins scarf with Distress ink to match the papers. The bottom of the easel holds the sentiment which is a die from Creative Expressions and I cut it a few times so it stands up more. This card does fold flat, if I had used two shaker cups, it wouldn't. So I just used one and to cover up the front and back I used a embossing folder and some circle dies to make frame to go around the outside. I Finished it off with a bow .

Stepper Easel card

Happy Sunday, I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. Today's card is an easel card but has a stepper element to it as well. I used some Snowflake dies to create the topper and I used a sentiment stamp to create the stopper. I am using the First Edition White Christmas paper pad again, I have a few more cards coming using these fab papers. I did a Silver and Gold version, it folds flat and goes into a 7x5 envelope.

Sam's Starz

Its a miserable day here today, hopefully its better with you. My card today uses the John Next Door Sam's Starz die set. The set contains an Ivy background die, solid star, tree and deer star dies. The ivy background has been die cut from Green card and I have inked through the die with some Green ink. The star has been die cut from Kraft card and has been backed with double sided adhesive and then covered with glitter. I then added the White Star die cut on top and created a frame using some square dies from Kraft card again . Its been finished off with a sentiment and a few gems.

Pixie Powders

Hi, hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday weekend. I have been playing with Creative Expressions Pixie Powders recently and today I am showing the first of three cards I made.

 I used the Sun Yellow, Mango Blaze, Aqua Lagoon, Golden Mint and Purple Violet. I created the background first by tapping a small amount of the powders onto some white cardstock and then spraying with a fine mister spray. I dried it off with a heat gun and cut it to fit the frame I had made using my Presscut Stitched Rectangles dies.

The flowers are from Elizabeth Designs and are called Dandelion Fluff. The sentiment circle is from Craftwork Cards.
