Christmas Wishes

Another card using the Sweet Poppy stencil today. I went for a Green colour combo and used a Nellie Snellen tree stamp with some Cardio little deer stamps. All the stamping was done on the card blank so it's completely flat, with some glitter of course.

Sweet Poppy Bauble Stencil

 I have a few more ideas using the Sweet Poppy Bauble stencil today. I have blended two shades of Altenew ink first through the stencil. Then I created some snow drifts using torn paper and some additional ink blending over the edges. I used a Cardio stamp set to create the scene and finished off with a sentiment across the bottom this time and of course some glitter.

I also mucked up one attempt so I die cut a circle out where the bauble is, inked blended another bauble part on a seperate piece of card and made it into a shaker card

One layer card series

 Today I am starting another series of Christmas cards that are either one layer as in everything has been stamped onto the card blank or has been stamped or die cut with one layer of card on a card blank. My thinking behind this is because Christmas is going to be different this year and if you usually make alot of cards and hand out, then this year they are probably going to have to be posted. If you like me you get carried away with lots of layers and tons of foam pads, it's going to cost a fortune as they go up to large letter cost. So I thought I would share some ideas for flatter cards that can go in the normal first or second class post. The first one today is a DL sized card and its completely flat and all stamping has been done directly onto the card blank. 

The is a huge trend at the moment for slimline cards and to be honest I hardly make DL size cards anymore but I have some of the DL top folding blanks and I have really enjoyed using those recently. I came up with an idea using some stamps I already had. The trees are from Nellie Snellen , they were four different trees on one stamp, but I cut them up to use individually last year and the deers are from Cardio. When you are making one layer scenes like this you need to think about perspective but once you are in the swing of them it's not hard. You need either copier paper or post it notes for masking. I am using huge ones at moment they are about A5 size , but you can use smaller ones. I knew the sentiment stamp I was going to use, so I made sure I left space for that. I tore some of my post it notes to create a snow edge and then starting at the bottom gently blended some blue ink off the edge of the post it note. Gently is the key here, you dont want harsh lines. I then moved the post it note up the card changing the position each time and blending as I went. Next I placed the post it notes back onto each line matching up carefully and stamped the trees. Some are first impression and the paler second impression and I stamped less of the trees as I went up the card. I then stamped the lovely little deers in different positions amongst the trees in a good black ink.  I then popped the card in my stamp positioner to stamp the sentiment.  I finished off with some glitter on the snow and trees.
